Zhu Xi 朱熹, (A.D. 1130-1200) the champion of Idealist Confucianism / Neo-Confucians of Song Dynasty was quoted in XieJiBianFang 協記辯方：
“樂聲是土金木火水，《洪范》是水火木金土。蓋納音者以干支分配於五音而本音所生之五行即為其干支所納之音也。
Harmonic Sound (NaYin 5 Elements) flows from Earth, Metal, Wood, Fire then Water. While Hong Fang 5 Elements flows from Water, Fire, Wood, Metal then Earth. This is because NaYin is Gan Zhi system of the harmonic sound (vibration) and it is grown by the origin Element and distributed amongst Gan Zhi. (I.e. the original Element has travelled through a medium producing a resultant Element, NaYin/ 64 Hexagrams.)
He then went on to elaborate on how NaYin 60 JiaZi are distributed according to celestial sphere of San Yuan 三垣 and 28 Constellations 二十八宿.
