Zhu Xi 朱熹, (A.D. 1130-1200) the champion of Idealist Confucianism / Neo-Confucians during Song Dynasty was quoted in XieJiBianFang 協記辯方：
“樂聲是土金木火水，《洪范》是水火木金土。蓋納音者以干支分配於五音而本音所生之五行即為其干支所納之音也。
“The Harmonic Sound (NaYin 5 Elements) flows from Earth, Metal, Wood, Fire then Water. While Hong Fan 5 Elements 洪範五行 flows from Water, Fire, Wood, Metal then Earth. This is because NaYin is the harmonic sound (vibration) of the Gan Zhi system, and, it is grown by the origin Element and distributed amongst Gan Zhi. (I.e. the original Element has travelled through a medium producing a resultant Element, NaYin/ 64 Hexagrams.)”
He then went on to elaborate on how NaYin 60 JiaZi are distributed according to celestial sphere of San Yuan 三垣 (The Three Enclosures) and 28 Constellations 二十八宿.
“初一宮商角徵羽納甲丙戊庚壬，系以五子而隨以五丑，宮得甲子，商得丙子，角得戊子，徵得庚，羽得壬子。宮為土，土生金，故甲子、乙丑納音金。商為金，金生水，故丙子、丁丑納音水。角為木，木生火，故戊子、己丑納音火。徵為火，火生土，故庚子、辛丑納音土。羽為水，水生木，故壬子、癸丑納音木。
次二商角徵羽宮納甲丙戊庚壬，系以五寅而隨以五卯。商金得甲寅、乙卯，納音水；角木得丙寅、丁卯，納音火；徵火得戊寅、己卯，納音土；羽水得庚寅、辛卯，納音木；宮土得壬寅、癸卯，納音金。
次三角徵羽宮商納甲丙戊庚壬，系以五辰而隨以五巳。角木得甲辰、乙己，納音火；徵火得丙辰、丁巳，納音土；羽水得戊辰、己巳，納音木；宮土得庚辰、辛巳，納音金；商金得壬辰、癸巳，納音水。以上六甲得其半，納音小成。
次四復以宮商角徵羽 納甲丙戊庚壬，系以五午而隨以五未。宮土得甲午、乙未，納音金；商金得丙午、丁未，納音水；角木得戊午、己未，納音火；徵火得庚午、辛未，納音土；羽水得壬午、癸未，納音木。
次五得以商角徵羽宮納甲丙戊庚壬，系以五申而隨以五酉。商金得甲申、乙酉，納音水；角木得丙申、丁酉，納音火；徵火得戊申、己酉，納音土；羽水得庚申、辛酉，納音木；宮土得壬申、癸酉，納音金。
次六復以角微羽宮商納甲丙戊庚壬，系以五戍而隨以五亥。角木得甲戍、乙亥，納音火；徵火得丙戍、丁亥，納音土；羽水得戊戍、己亥，納音木；宮土得庚戍、辛亥，納音金；商金得壬戍、癸亥，納音水。
於是六甲全而納音大成矣。陽生於子，自甲子以至癸巳。陰生於午，自甲午以至癸亥。故三十而復從宮起。宮君、商臣、角民，皆人道也，故皆可以為首。徵事、羽物皆人所用也，故不可以為首。是以三甲終而復始於宮。干為天，支為地，音為人，三才之五行備矣。”
Note: Zhu Xi has included important concepts of San Yuan 三元, Heaven, Man, Earth Trilogy 三才, 納甲 NaJia, and a clear demarcation of the Heavens in this text. A proficient teacher/practitioner must be able to make sense of above cycle, logic and flow.
NaYin: Origin Element Growing Resultant (NaYin) Element
Note: This diagram is very good for one to understand NaYin 5 Elements cycle, ZiWeiDouShu 紫微斗數, and, 64Hexagram六十四卦 studies. Again, Yin and Yang cycles are very clear on this diagram.
There are 30 sets of NaYin, not 60 sets of NaYin. Each set comprises of a Yin-Yang pairing. Please refer to HuangDiNeiJing 黃帝內經 for details.

Without an in depth understanding of Yin-Yang 5 Elements’ origins, principles, categorisation, and, behaviour, I often wonder how is it possible to read BaZi and assess Feng Shui with consistency.
It is also a wonder that ‘masters’ of Zi Wei Dou Shu 紫微斗數 can use Zi Wei do Feng Shui, veterans would still ‘fly’ the stars 九宮仔, then, of course, BaZi experts who know 神煞Shen Sha but can’t figure out 28 Mansion’s usage.
The keys and science were never lost in history. The texts are still available in mass market – bookstores and internet. Problem is, few take the time to understand the perspective of the ancient Chinese Sages on our 9 Heavens.
When everyone wants to glorify their ‘Master’ titles, who is doing the leg work?
