In Feng Shui, doors are an important feature because they are gateways/portals that link up 2 dimensions. If the doors are opened correctly based on Feng Shui principles, you can safely say the battle to achieve good Feng Shui is half won.
Very often, my friends will display looks of skepticism when i tell them this and they will ask me what can they do about the door?
If you are staying in a landed property, you can make a choice about the location of the door. From one perspective, it will decide what you choose to see first thing in the morning when you leave your cosy home for work. If you walk out to a scenic view (picture on left), you already have a cognitive advantage (not exactly Feng Shui) over another who sees chaos (picture on right) first thing in the morning!
Note: Feng Shui is not all about the mental ‘feel-good’ factor. It is about creating desired tangible outcomes through a 3 step process – see Feng Shui and Astrology brochure for details.
But what if you are staying in an apartment and you do not have the liberty to choose? Can there be anything done to the existing door to harness good Qi? Yes there is.
But do you need to tilt the door this way? No, there is no need to.
Have a good weekend ahead!

Another reason why doors are so important is because they serve to absorb Qi from our external environment.
However, theory has it that water serves to barricade Qi. it is worth pondering why this new ninja-themed restaurant in Taipei is doing well.
“A moat and screen of cascading water just past the front entrance make customers wait a few minutes until the drawbridge goes up, leading to a dark stairwell toward the dining hall.”
