In Feng Shui, one may say that landform overrides any Feng Shui system / formula / formation.  A perfect formation (no such thing in real life) is easily broken by Sha Qi or Killing Forces.

Most of us know about Wind Gap Sha天斬煞.  It is a gap/pass between 2 lateral objects (often mountains in rural Feng Shui and buildings in urban Feng Shui).  What this Sha or Killing Force does is to create a funnel effect where strong, negative and fast-moving Qi leaks away the protective Qi formation of the premise.

The reference is always the entrance.  This means the entrance must face such Sha Qi to make detrimental effects to the occupants.

Wind Gap and Pulling-Nose Water 牽鼻水 are vertical funnels.  Horizontal funnels include going-away Water 向去水 and Cutting feet Water割腳水.  The Qi here is funneled away by the Water.

The other less known similar Sha is 垇風煞 Depressed Terrain Sha.  It may come in forms of dry drains, canals, rivers in front of an entrance.  Also, a horizontal funnel.  Imagine an entrance facing a depressed funnel on the ground.  It funnels away the first (horizontal) layer of Earth Qi.  Thus, its negative effect is worse than a vertical funnel.

It is easy to overlook such Sha as they are on the ground and not obvious. Do not let a seemingly ‘perfect’ formation overwhelm the need to avoid such Sha Qi.

Within 6 months of moving in, there have been cases of strokes, sudden and serious business discord in profit-making companies, serious drop in sales, sudden change in personalities etc.

Chinese words are very figurative.  Look at the depression on the word – ‘垇’ ào.

It sure sounds like OUCH.
